EB-5 Visa Program Real Estate Investments

The EB-5 Visa Program allows non-US citizens to obtain permanent visa status. This is a program administered by the US Immigration Service. Its intent is to generate investments in the US by foreign nationals in return for a (usually) fast-track obtaining of permanent visa status.

Real estate projects present excellent opportunities for foreign citizens to take part in the EB-5 program as a means of obtaining a “Green Card”. Real estate projects must qualify for EB-5 status, as not every real estate project is able to offer EB-5 status to foreign investors. To qualify, the real estate project must be located within a designated EB-5 employment area or rural area that meets EB-5 Program requirements.

For a foreign investor to qualify as an EB-5 investor, he must invest a minimum of $500,000 and that investment must be shown to create at least 10 jobs.

Michael Zukerman, Executive Director of Whitestone Realty Capital in New York City, in a 2012 interview, explains the EB-5 Visa Program for real estate investors. His firm is investment banker and commercial real estate developer, and has provided EB-5 investment opportunities in several of his projects.
